Two passengers were seriously hurt and taken to the hospital

MERCER, Pa. (WKBN) – One person is dead after a one-car crash that happened in Mercer overnight.

Justin Park, 21, of Ellwood City, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Pennsylvania State Police said a car was headed west on Route 62 around midnight when it went off the side of the road and hit a tree near Cannon’s Gun Room and The Lakes at Jefferson.

Troopers said Park, who was driving, and the front passenger — 25-year-old Joshua Klein, of New Castle — were thrown from the car. Klein was flown to the hospital by helicopter.

A passenger in the back seat, 25-year-old Jonathan King, of New York state, was partially thrown and had to be rescued from the car, according to state police. King was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Both passengers are seriously hurt.

Troopers said none of them were wearing seat belts.

That stretch of road was closed early Friday morning. It has since reopened.
