CHAMPION, Ohio (WKBN) – A driver is facing charges after investigators say he led police on a chase, ending in a multi-vehicle crash in Champion.
It happened just after 8 a.m. on Route 45 at Route 305, shutting down the intersection.
Investigators with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Steven Jeter, Jr., 30, of Youngstown, led police on a chase that started in Bazetta. That chase was stopped but continued again as officers spotted him in Champion.
The Dodge Challenger that Jeter was driving went south on Route 45, going through a traffic light and hitting two other cars and two utility poles.
The vehicle then stopped and Jeter was arrested as he tried climbing out of the car to get away, investigators say.
He and a girl in another car were treated for minor injuries.
In all, four vehicles were damaged as another vehicle was hit by flying debris from the crash.
Ohio Edison was called to make repairs to the damaged telephone poles.
