YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – One person died in a wrong-way head-on crash on Interstate 680 Wednesday night.
Police are not identifying the people involved in the crash at this point.
A news release from the Accident Investigations Unit listed two females as victims and one as a suspect. It did not say whether or not the survivors were hurt.
Youngstown police said the accident happened just before 10 p.m. Wednesday near the Glenwood Avenue exit.
Two vehicles crashed head-on and one went over the median.
Lt. Bill Ross, head of the AIU, said investigators are not yet sure where the vehicle that was going the wrong way got onto the freeway.
He also said investigators are waiting for toxicology results to see if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
Traffic was backed up overnight, but all lanes have since reopened.
