VIENNA, Ohio (WYTV) – The House Appropriations Committee approved $9.4 million for a project at the Air Reserve Station in Vienna.
The money will be used to build a new firing range at the facility.
The current range is outdated and cannot be used for more powerful weapons such as grenade launchers.
The expenditure must still be approved by the House and Senate.
The money was included in President Barack Obama’s budget proposal released in February.
In December, an amendment that was included in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that would allow modernization of Ohio’s C-130H fleet, which is based at the air station.
