CAMPBELL, Ohio (WYTV) – Two people are in jail after police raided their house at 76 Oxford St. in Campbell Friday afternoon.

Officers went to the house to begin the raid after someone told them there were multiple guns inside the home. Police said it is a crime for a convicted felon to know they have guns inside their home.

Police found drugs, nearly $2,000 in cash and about a dozen rifles. Police arrested Joellen Paris and Raymond Paris Jr., who is a convicted felon. They will be arraigned Tuesday in Campbell Municipal Court.

“The felon is being arrested for having weapons under disability. One female had a bench warrant through our court and there is pending charges against the other male that was taken out of the house because we believe he also may be under disability,” Campbell Police Detective Kevin Sferra said.

Two people were held in the back of the police car for hours. A family member said she does not agree with the way Campbell police handled the situation.

“Number one, they have no proof. They have no evidence. They have no undercover cop being sold anything. They have nothing at all. So for them to come and arrest my whole entire family off something that was said by another individual, I think is ridiculous,” Justine Paris said.

One neighbor who lives across the street said she had seen police checking out the house before the raid.

“I think it is crazy. It is really scary that stuff like this is happening because it is right across the street from me. I don’t know if I am in danger,” neighbor Sydney Jones said.

Campbell police say they are cracking down on getting illegally owned weapons off the streets.

“This is what keeps our city safe, and our residents who don’t want this kind of thing in their neighborhoods, safe,” Sferra said.
