Boardman stabbing suspect: ‘I felt like I had to do something crazy’

Local News

The Boardman man accused of stabbing his neighbor in a random attack called 911 on Wednesday to turn himself in.

Devin Nash told a dispatcher that he knew authorities were looking for him and that he was waiting for them in Youngstown.

“I had a lot on my mind and all, and I felt like I, like I had to, like, do something crazy, you know?” he said.

Detectives in Boardman said on Tuesday night, Nash pushed his way into the house across the street from where his family lives on Meadowbrook Avenue and started stabbing the woman inside.

The victim’s son made a frantic call to 911 minutes later after hearing his mother screaming.

Police said although Nash and the victim were neighbors, they don’t believe that the two knew each other.

Nash is charged with felonious assault and aggravated burglary.
