Boardman High School hosts Cleveland Cavaliers Academy clinic for kids

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Boardman High School hosted a Cleveland Cavaliers Academy clinic on Saturday, offering kids a chance to learn basketball drills similar to the pros.

Director of the academy, Kendall Chones, said the program helps build upon fundamentals that are overlooked in youth leagues.

“Practice your basic fundamentals, shooting, passing, dribbling and that’s something I think, especially at a young age, if kids are able to master that, they can have longevity in their career,” said camp director Kendall Chones.

Boardman alumnus and former OSU Buckeye Terence Dials also helped with the clinic. Dials was a Big 10 player of the year in 2006 and now helps coach these clinics whenever possible.

“If I’m free, I always want to give my time to the kids. I mean, this is the foundation of our future,” Dials said.

The academy has hosted several clinics in the Youngstown area and hopes to work with more schools in the future.
