On a cold day, Boardman held a pep rally to heat things up before a big basketball game Friday night.
The school also got a visit from Toasti, the mascot of Schwebel’s Bread.
He was there to pump up the student body and even brought in some money.
The Boardman band got a $3,000 check from Schwebel’s for winning a school spirit contest. Boardman got more votes than 450 other schools in the states where Schwebel’s Bread is sold.
“We’re a hometown bakery. We did not think that our local hometown high school would win. It was a surprise to us,” Lee Schwebel said. “They showed incredible school spirit with their voting. They’re a great team, obviously.”
Boardman’s band received over 3,000 votes — far ahead of the second place school.
