AUSTINTOWN TWP, Ohio (WYTV) – Multiple fire departments were at the scene of a nursing home fire in Austintown Monday morning.

According to the Austintown fire chief, crews were called just after 7 a.m. Monday to Briarfield at Ashley Circle just off Route 46. There was a fire in the ceiling and on the roof above a dryer unit in the laundry area of the facility. The fire was out 45 minutes after crews arrived.

We’re told no one was hurt.

Residents of the assisted living facility were taken outside of the building. Many were seen covered in sheets to keep them warm. They were outdoors for less than an hour before being allowed back inside.

The Weathersfield, Canfield and Youngstown Fire Departments were among those providing mutual assistance to Austintown.

The Austintown Schools made buses available in the event that residents had to be moved elsewhere, but that was not the case.27 First News and wkbn.com will have updates throughout the morning and a full report on 27 First News at/ Noon.
