Accused child rapist in Youngstown faces even more charges

Local News

A Youngstown man already facing child rape charges is in even more trouble.

Todd Perkins was back in court Tuesday morning. He was secretly indicted last week on eight counts of rape and gross sexual imposition.

Prosecutors say he repeatedly assaulted two young girls starting when one of the victims was just 5 years old.

Investigators say the rapes occurred over a seven- or eight-year period.

“Especially with regard to the second victim. The conduct began when she was 8 or 9 years old and spanned all the way into 2016 when police began investigating Todd Perkins in connection with the first victim,” Atty. Jennifer McLaughlin said.

If Perkins is convicted, he could face an automatic life prison sentence without any chance for parole.
