YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Watery eyes, sneezing, and sniffling: If you suffer from allergies you are not alone.

Many people would argue that 2015’s allergy season is one of the worst they can remember.

“I got home from college last weekend and since i got home, i haven’t stopped sneezing and my sinuses have been crazy. It’s been really awful,” allergy sufferer Henry Kessler said.

Kessler’s seasonal allergies didn’t stop him from bringing friends from Chardon to visit Fellows Riverside Gardens.

“All this pollen that we see blowing around is coming from our trees,” Mill Creek MetroParks Horticulture Director Keith Kaiser said.

According to Kaiser, Oak, Maple and Sycamore trees are flowering a lot right now.

Kaiser says all of the buds are opening at once on many plants, releasing a mass of pollen.

“The reason we have so many is because we haven’t had any cold frost spring nights or spring mornings this year to kill some of those flowers,” Kaiser said.

Stephanie Huston, a family nurse practitioner with the CVS Minute Clinic in Boardman, says she’s seen more patients than usual with the typical allergy symptoms..

There are plenty of over-the-counter options. Tuesday, a lot of folks went through CVS picking out their favorite options. But, if that doesn’t work, you can try your local pharmacy.

There are prescription eye drops, some prescription nasal steroids and a few prescription oral medications.

Huston says if you need relief, reach out to a medical profession for help.

“With a discussion here, or with your primary care provider, you can find out what’s best for you,” Huston said.
