BOARDMAN, Ohio (WYTV) – Police arrested two people and gave court summons to 11 others during two sobriety checkpoints over the weekend in Boardman, according to a press release from the Mahoning County OVI Task Force.

According to the release, 7 of the summons were for driving with a suspended license, while four were for not having a driver’s license. Police also cited five people for not using seat belts and one person each for having an open container of alcohol, drug abuse, endangering children, fictitious plates and expired registration.

The first checkpoint was on South Avenue at Larkridge in Boardman and from 10 p.m. to midnight, while the second checkpoint was on U.S. 224 at Marinthana Ave. in Boardman, from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m.  A total of 439 vehicles passed through the checkpoints, according to the release.

The Mahoning County OVI Task Force is funded by a federal grant, which is administered through the Ohio Department of Public Safety.
