People and pets escape fire in Campbell

CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) – One person was rushed to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but two other people, two dogs and two cats are OK following a fire in Campbell Thursday.

Crews were called just after 11 a.m. Thursday to a house in the 100 block of Warhurst Road.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found lots of smoke and a little bit of fire coming out of one of the front rooms.

“We did pull a line. We tried to knock it down the best we could from the outside before we went in. Once we were able to make entry, we got it knocked down pretty good, contained it to that room. There is a little bit of smoke damage throughout the residence, but it’s minimal compared to what it could have been,” said Chief Stephan Dubic of the Campbell Fire Department.

The house sustained smoke damage, and one man was taken from the scene in an ambulance to get checked out after inhaling some smoke, but no other injuries were reported.

At this point, investigators believe the fire started in a bedroom, but the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The family will have to find another place to stay until repairs are made.
