Voters overwhelmingly approve Mahoning County sales tax

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The renewal of the three-quarter of cent sales tax in Mahoning County has passed.

Sixty-four percent of voters approved the renewal.

It raises $25 million a year for criminal justice services, or 86% of the county’s criminal justice system — the sheriff’s, prosecutor’s and coroner’s offices, as well as dispatching services.
