Mike DeWine will be facing off against Democrat Richard Corday in November for Ohio governor, according to the Associated Press.
DeWine, who is currently Ohio’s attorney general, said drug education is one of his priorities to curtail the opioid epidemic.
He also wants to focus on early childhood education to increase the number of high-performing schools and college-ready kids in Ohio.
DeWine is prioritizing economic prosperity throughout the state as well.
He and Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, who was originally running for the same position, decided to team up to win the governorship.
DeWine started his career as a prosecutor.
