STEUBENVILLE, OHIO (WYTV) – The search for a new President at Eastern Gateway Community College is over. After narrowing the field down to a final four candidates, the Board of Trustees has named Dr. Jimmie Bruce as the new leader. Bruce will serve as the 4th president in the history of EGCC, since its inception as Jefferson Technical Institute.

Dr. Jimmie Bruce currently serves as Vice President of Academic Success at Northwest Vista College, one of five independently accredited colleges within the Alamo Colleges, TX.

Previously, he served as Dean of Student Success and Chief Student Affairs Officer at Northwest Vista College, TX. Dr. Bruce earned a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, TX, a Master of Arts in Organizational Communication and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY.

The thirteen-member Presidential Search Committee was composed of College staff and faculty, board members, foundation representatives, community representatives and a student representative.

Eastern Gateway Community College’s current president, Dr. Laura Meek, will retire this summer after 14-years. She will spend her last month training Dr. Bruce for the position.
