Drive-thru coronavirus testing scheduled in Warren

The testing is scheduled to happen between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – The City of Warren will hold its first COVID-19 testing clinic next week, but local leaders say there is a need for more.

There’s an extended intermission at Packard Music Hall with no shows scheduled at least until June. But next Monday and Tuesday, there will be a lot of activity in the parking lot, where the clinic will take place.

It will be held between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. First responders will have a reserved time between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.

“One of the most critical elements of us getting past it is really the testing and when the opportunity presented itself for us to do some additional testing in our community, we sort of jumped on it,” said Warren Mayor Doug Franklin.

The city is teaming up with QuickMed Urgent Care of Cortland, Cornerstone CM, Inc. and Ten Healthcare to offer the tests.

They’ve done similar testing in other communities like Austintown and Campbell.

Cornerstone owner Michael Marantis says he knows it’s not just cities and towns that have a need for testing, but long-term care facilities as well.

“This virus is just contained in those small, little areas and unfortunately you’re getting big numbers out of those homes just because of the situation,” he said.

Marantis says Windsor House and Shepherd of the Valley have already reached out for testing at their facilities.

For those who’d like to be tested in Warren, you must pre-register and have two symptoms of the coronavirus. Medical workers and first responders must also have two symptoms or have been in contact with someone who is suspected of having COVID-19.

You can pre-register at www.QuickMed-uc.com or by phone at 724-734-5235.

Pre-registration begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, but city officials are already talking about adding another day.

“People are trying to pre-register right now so that means that there is a desire out there and a demand for testing and we want to be able to accommodate,” Franklin said.

There is a charge for the testing, which may be covered by insurance. This will be discussed during registration.
