ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (CNN) – A truck smashed into a city bus in Albuquerque, New Mexico leaving the bus driver hanging out of the windshield.

By the sound of the bus driver whistling in the video, the day was going just fine, but his route was about to take a turn for the worse.

Last Friday, a silver pickup collided with an ABQ Ride bus. Police said the driver of the pickup truck ran a red light.

When the bus is hit, you can see it hop a curb and hit a Route 66 sign. The collision knocks the bus driver out of his seat and into the front windshield. City officials said the driver was not wearing his seat belt.

Traffic was held up for hours as crews cleaned up the aftermath.

No injuries were reported by either of the drivers and there were no passengers on the bus.

City officials said the bus driver has a good record but don’t agree with is decision not to buckle up.

They are using the video as a training tool for all of their drivers.
