Employment rates in Pennsylvania and Ohio rose last month

Pennsylvania set a record for the number of workers on payrolls in December.

The state had 6,200,000 — a gain of 16,000.

Unemployment rose by 5,000 to 274,000 but the jobless rate held steady at 4.2 percent.

Ohio stayed at 4.6 percent.

The national rate is 3.9 percent.

Ohio employment increased to 5,600,000 during December and there were 265 unemployed.
