YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A lot of people experience acid reflux, but have you ever wondered what causes it?
The stomach produces a lot of acid when you eat, but the opening at the top of the esophagus closes to prevent it from coming up. During acid reflux, however, the opening doesn’t close correctly and the stomach acid comes back up causing the symptoms of heartburn.
How does your diet affect acid reflux? What kinds of treatment are there?
Dr. Shayesteh joined 33 WYTV Daybreak to explain acid reflux and how it can be treated.
