As the national economy continues to be bleak, resulting in job losses and business failures, there is some good news, locally.
Youngstown's Chevrolet Centre continues to improve financially, posting a one hundred and ten thousand dollar profit over the last nine months, after having lost thirty-three thousand dollars during the same time last year.
It is the result of cutting expenses, and actually making more money from each event.
Hoping to attract more business, and on the recommendation of the management company and the mayor, Youngstown city council decided to cut the entertainment tax on tickets from nine and a half to five and a half percent, a savings of eighty cents on a twenty dollar ticket.
Officials hope the savings will attract more business, and encourage visitors to spend more on food and drinks inside the arena.
During this fiscal year, the Chevy Centre has sold more than three million dollars worth of tickets, a substantial part of the profit posted by the Centre.
