Wal-Mart Still Coming

On Tuesday, the company told township officials the city of Youngstown would not supply water to the project site unless Liberty agreed to a Joint Economic Development District.

The township supervisor spoke with Wal-Mart officials today, who say nothing has changed.

And Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams told Trustee Gary Litch the city will not block water to the store.

"They would need to understand if the tap provided by Youngstown or if the commissioners could provide the tap if Youngstown could not.  But Mayor Williams said he will not, not allow the tap and allow it to proceed forward.", explains Trustee Litch.

Litch says officials from Liberty and Youngstown plan on meeting next week to discuss other possible JEDD opportunities.

But he made it clear, the Wal-Mart area is off the table.
