Residents of one local community have one less place to buy grocery's. Cornersburg Giant Eagle closed its doors for the final time just a few moments ago.The company cited "financial reasons" for closing the location. The store went forward with its plan to shut it's doors, despite an outcry in recent weeks from Youngstown officials as well as the surrounding community. Some shoppers we talked with, while sad to see the store go, say they'll just have to find a new place to shop.
"WELL I THINK IT'S SAD FOR THE PEOPLE THAT WORK THERE AND THE PEOPLE THAT LIVE AROUND HERE, BUT EVERYBODY WILL ADJUST. THEY ALWAYS DO. THEY'LL GO TO OTHER GIANT EAGLE STORES, THEY'LL GO TO SPARKLE. IN NO TIME AT ALL EVERYBODY WILL FORGET ABOUT IT."--Frank Moulin Giant Eagle Shopper
The company says it offered positions to all 65 employees of the store at other Giant Eagle Corporate owned locations
