It's a meeting, that some Warren council members say is long over due. A sit down to discuss the city's financial situation and what should be done to correct the problem.
Council says they want some direction and action from city administrators. "The fact is people are calling for a plan. What is our plan her? We need something we can tell people, tell our department heads," said Councilman Bob Dean. "What are we going to be like in September, or come December? We need to have this laid out, we need to know what the facts are."
Dean and Councilman Al Novak say they are concerned that there won't be enough money in the budget to last until the end of the year.
"We need to have contingency plan, we cannot continue to pay the amount of payroll we pay," said Councilman Al Novak.
Several council members say they fear Warren is looking at a year end budget deficit of a million dollars but the city auditor says he doesn't believe the situation is that bad.
"We've taken in one point four million less than what we spent so far this year. But we ended the year with a balance of one point seven million dollars, so we still have money available. We will be trying to reduce costs and make ends meet," said Auditor Dave Griffing.
The auditor says he will be meeting with the mayor at least three times a week to go over the budget and make sure the city is doing everything possible to save money.
