Big Drug Bust

The Mahoning County Law enforcement task force announced the indictment of eighteen individuals for drug trafficking in and around the Kirwan homes housing project in Campbell.

The investigation began in late 2006 at the request of the Campbell Police.  Tuesday morning, thirty officers began to execute arrest warrants on the individuals.  They are charged with thirty-five counts of trafficking cocaine.

"Campbell for instance, they estimated thirty-five to forty percent of their dispatched calls were to the Kirwan homes for crimes related to street robberies, shootings, domestic violence and murder.  So, we are looking at it not as a drug trafficking organization but as an organization involved in violent street crimes.", FBI agent Mike Cizmar states.

Police are still looking for fourteen of the eighteen individuals charged.

Another drug bust in Trumbull county nets numerous marijuana plants in Bazetta Township.  Members of the Trumbull County Sheriff's Department raided an apartment around eleven o'clock Tuesday morning.  They say the man living in the home answered the door with a gun in hand. He did put the weapon down when officers identified themselves.

He's now being held in the Trumbull County jail.  Charges are pending.
