A benefit today in Warren for 18 year old Douglas Coward of Newton Falls. He was burned in a house fire in 2004. People got the chance to help him as well as the environment with a recycling drive in the parking lot of Sorrento's Restaurant. Proceeds raised go to help pay for medical costs for Doug. Today was the tenth recycling drive held, so far it has been a big success.
"WE'VE BEEN DOING THIS SINCE JANUARY OF 2005. WE JUST THIS MORNING WENT OVER 8-THOUSAND POUNDS, WHICH IS FOUR TONS. IT'S BEEN A WONDERFUL WONDERFUL RESPONSE FROM THE COMMUNITY. JUST NOT JUST LOCAL, BUT WE HAVE PEOPLE FROM COLUMBIANA COUNTY BRINGING CANS IN."--Connie Hartman and Doug Coward Recycling Drive
The drives are held twice a year. The next collection will take place in April of 2009.
