Vernon Township Murder

Around four o'clock Friday morning, Trumbull County 911 got a call that someone had been murdered at 4918 Bushnell Campbell Road in Vernon Township.

"My son just killed his girlfriend over here at her house.  He just what?  He just killed his girlfriend...Killed his girlfriend?  Yes he did.", states a woman on the 911 emergency tape.

"Within minutes, we were there and found the body of Tricia Wade, she was thirty-two years old, resides at that residence.", explains Thomas Altiere, Trumbull County Sheriff.

Deputies took twenty-six year old Nathan Riggs in for questioning.  Neighbors and family members say Riggs and Wade lived together but weren't married.  Apparently Wade had as many as four children, but Altiere says the couple were the only ones in the trailer at the time. Wade was dead when crews got to the scene, apparently killed by blunt force trauma to the head.

Riggs was arraigned later this afternoon in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court-- charged with aggravated murder.

"Nathan? Yes, I just killed my girlfriend. What's your last name, Nathan? Nathan Allen Riggs, I'm on 4918 Bushnell Campbell, I just bashed in her head.", voice of Nathan Riggs on the 911 emergency tape.

It's still too early to tell exactly what happened between Wade and Riggs in the moments before the murder.  Autopsy and toxicology reports are still pending.  For now, the Sheriff is in the process of contacting the family members;  some of whom woke up Friday not knowing what happened to their loved ones.
