Fire officials were called out to just before one o'clock Monday afternoon when a construction crew working on water and sewer lines in Petersburg struck an eight inch gas line at the corners of Routes 170 and 617.

The line was a main supply for East Palestine, so officials from Dominion East Ohio did not want to shut off the gas, "Throughout the afternoon and evening we had crews their that worked continuously to repair the line where the rupture took place. Meanwhile, bypassing gas so we did not lose any service to any customers in the area."

Crews worked to have everyone back in their homes and repairs completed by around nine this evening.
