Warren Drive Thru Prayer by Jason Vinkler

With Rising crime on their minds.....A Youngstown Outreach Ministry Group took their message to residents IN Warren today.

The city of Warren has seen a rise in crime over the past year...... In 2007 Warren Recorded 10 murders. So far this year the city has seen two homicides, Now a group that is tired of the rising crime across the valley is taking their message to the streets

You've gone through drive thrus at fast food restaurants numerous times, but have you ever heard of drive thru prayer???

"WE'RE PRAYING INSIDE OF THE BUILDING WAITING FOR THEM TO COME IN....WELL SOME PEOPLE MAY NOT EVER COME INSIDE OF A CHURCH BUILDING.....SO IT'S UP TO US AS A CHURCH TO GO OUT IN THE HIGHWAYS AND BYWAYS AND COMPELL THEM TO COME."

The concept is an outreach ministry of the Christian Revival and Dicipleship Center of Youngstown. They launched the idea in June of Last year. With Crime out of control, they hoped a religious presence on the streets could make a difference.

"THE CRIME....YOU KNOW LAST YEAR WE WERE DOING THIS WE HAD NO MURDERS IN OUR CITY FOR TWO MONTHS...TWO WHOLE MONTHS...SO WE BELIEVE IN GOD FOR NO MURDERS EVER....BUT THAT'S GONNA HAPPEN IF WE ALL COME TOGETHER AND PRAY."

and with praying on the cities street corners, visible to anyone passing through...they hope to reach people through god.... But they realize they cannot do this alone and hope that other churches, and ministries will participate in the future.

"I'D LIKE TO CHALLENGE EVERY BISHOP, EVERY PASTOR, EVERY OVERSEER TO COME OUTSIDE OF THE FOUR WALLS OF THE CHURCH. WE'RE TOO COMFORTABLE THERE. NOT THEM SENDING OUT THE SHEEP, BUT COMING OUT WITH THEM AND BEGIN TO WALK THE CITIES OF WARREN, WALK THE CITIES OF YOUNGSTOWN, WE CAN CHANGE OUR CITY. AND THAT'S THE ONLY WAY WE'RE GOING TO DO IT."

The group is planning more of these drive-thru prayer services throughout the spring and summer months. The next will be at the corners of Hillman and Indianola in Youngstown this Friday.
