When the manager of the Kentucky Fried Chicken on South Avenue in Youngstown pulled out of his store Monday morning, he had NO idea someone was planning to run him off the road, shoot him, AND rob him.
But- waiting for him were two people,And tonight police have video tape evidence--- which-- with your help, could lead to their arrests. The video tape comes from a W-R-T-A bus. It doesn't show the actual crime committed, but it does show how this diabolical scheme was carried out.
There are eight cameras on every W-R-T-A bus, some pointed on the inside and some to the outside. Just before 10 a-m on Monday, as this bus was headed south, crossing the intersection of South and Indianola Avenues, one the buses outside cameras picked up the red KIA Rondo on the left, driven by the manager of the Kentucky Fried Chicken, pulling out to make his daily deposit. Little did he know that a block away, the driver of this silver blue 4-door Saturn, was pulling out right behind him, and was setting up to rob him.
Police believe a dark complected, overweight black woman was driving the Saturn, as it chased the K-F-C manager up South Avenue. At one point the chase car, the Saturn, became blocked in by a truck, and had to pass the truck on the left to get around it.
At the intersection of South and Hilton, the Saturn pulled in front of the manager's car, causing an accident. The woman got out and asked the manager to use his cell phone, a distraction. As the bus rolled past, the woman's accomplice, a black male, walked to the manager's car, shot him, took the money and escaped in her car. By the time our crew arrived on the scene, someone had pushed the manager's car into a driveway on Hilton.
Police would also like to talk with anyone on the bus at the time. As you can see, as the bus passed the accident scene all heads turned and looked.
Police have asked us not to release the name of the manager of the Kentucky Fried Chicken who was shot. We do know that he's in the hospital, in a coma. In the last picture you saw, that of the people looking out the window, you can faintly see the license plate of the Saturn.
Police are sending that frame--- to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation to have it enhanced with hopes of getting the license plate number.
If anyone knows anything about this crime, you're being asked to call the Youngstown police.
