Voters in Trumbull County have many pocketbook reasons to vote this November.
Two countywide measures would place two $5 taxes on license plates purchased for each vehicle. That is, except for those registered in Warren, Niles, Newton Falls and Hubbard, where residents already pay a license tax imposed by their respective municipalities. The estimated $1.2 million dollars raised by the tax would go toward state and federal grants for road and bridge repairs.
Many school districts and political entities are also looking for renewals and new money.
And most Trumbull County school districts and communities will get the chance to choose new representation. In the city of Warren, that means a decision between incumbents Bob Dean, Helen Rucker and Dan Crouse and former Warren Mayor Dan Sferra for three at-large council seats. Neil B. Hagan Jr. will challenge incumbent Marti Morn for the Fourth Ward seat and Challenger Rhonda Bennett and Cheryl Saffold will challenge incumbent James Pugh in the Sixth Ward.
