Rep. Tom Letson, D-Warren, will be one of a handful to meet with executives of Severstal North America next month.
Letson, Rep. John Domenick, D-Smithfield, and Sen. Jason Wilson, D-Columbiana, recently wrote letters to the company requesting it return its steel plants to active production or sell them to a company that will.
Letson and Domenick will meet at 2 p.m. Dec. 3 in Columbus with Doug Schrader, vice president and general manager of government relations; Wilbur Winland, Severstal Wheeling vice president and general manager; and Greg Echols, Warren vice president and general manager.
Domenick and Letson said Monday they're pleased with the meeting and feel the dialogue needs to begin so Ohioans can get back to work. They said the meeting is a "hopeful sign."
Domenick and Letson said that while Severstal has idled a number of plants, there are other companies that have expressed interest in utilizing them.
Severstal Warren has been closed for over a year.
