The former office manager of a Boardman car dealership was in court Wednesday on theft charges.

Debra Chance, of New Middletown, is accused of stealing nearly $600,000 from The Honda Store on State Route 224. A company spokesperson said Chance had been taking money since 2006 by writing checks to herself, then presenting phony receipts.

Chance is set to go on trial next month.
