A group of concerned parents met Sunday night in Vienna to discuss the Mathews School District's plans to close Neal Middle School.

The district proposed closing the aging middle school to save money. This fall, 6th graders would be sent to Baker Elementary, while 7th and 8th grade students would be placed in trailers at Mathews High School.

The Board of Education was supposed to decide what would happen to the 200 students at the school last month but tabled the issue to hear parents' concerns. They'll address the Board at a special work session at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
