As we age many people develop various skin blemishes and conditions. One of the most common of these are liver spots. Liver spots are usually small brown or red blemishes that appear gradually over time. Though they're not usually a health problem, irregular liver spots should inspected by a physician. Sometimes liver spots need to be removed either because they do pose a health risk or because the patient isn't comfortable with the way they look. If this is the case, a laser surgery will likely be used. Over the last decade laser treatments have developed to the point that they're now the most widely used procedures for treating many different skin conditions. Laser treatments essentially work by damaging the affected skin just enough to kill the cells that harbor the condition. By selectively burning tissue with lasers, doctors can usually clear most blemishes, including liver spots.
