This year's Veterans Day ceremony in Warren started out with a special announcement from Mayor Michael O'Brien.

"This now will be know as Veterans Memorial Way, in the city of Warren," said O'Brien.

He was referring to a stretch of Mahoning Avenue that runs in front of the Trumbull County Veterans Memorial.

The guest speaker at Warren's ceremony was Major Brent Davis from the Youngstown Air Reserve Station.

"We wouldn't be where we are at today, if it wasn't for their sacrifices," Davis said. "If it wasn't for their commitment in their respective services. I look out there in the crowd and I see all these different uniforms and veterans caps, and I want to know their stories."

Each year, Trumbull County picks someone to honor on Veterans Day. Typically, it is one individual. However, this year it was an entire group of veterans.

"Today we honored all Vietnam veterans," said Herman Breuer with Trumbull County Veterans Services. "I think the reason we wanted to do that is because they had never really had the proper welcome home. So today we decided to honor all of the Vietnam vets."

Samuel Lanza is a World War II veteran. He served in the marines. Lanza said he was overwhelmed by the support the people of Trumbull County have shown.

"I'm just so happy that everybody is paying tribute to the veterans today," said Lanza. "For what they've done for this country. If it wasn't for that, we wouldn't be here today."

Warren's ceremony was followed by a fly-over from the 910th Airlift Wing in Vienna and a parade to honor veterans.
