The Warren Family Mission opened a new facility in Warren for women needing a place to live.

The Women's Center is located on Warren-Sharon Road. It opened about two months ago and held its official grand opening Friday.

Mission officials said the facility can house about 16 women at a time and will help them with life skills, alcohol and drug use prevention and job search assistance.

"Right now, this is a women's only shelter, but we are constructing three three-bedroom apartments for women and children and families to stay," said Michelle Ellis, a center official.

Mission officials said without help from the community and local businesses they would not be able to provide services to the needy. And Friday, the mission received a big boost from King Brothers of Bristolville. The company donated $1,000 to the mission.
