The Warren City School District Board of Education approved the purchase of a High Street property for its cost effective, centralized District Administration Office during their Tuesday meeting.
The office, located at 105 High St. N.E., will include the Board Administration and Maintenance offices, as well as Professional Center and Food Service offices, which are currently located at 261 Monroe St. N.W. and 202 Loveless Ave S.W., respectively.
In a prepared statement, the board reported that the district will pay $1.4 million for the High Street property and $100,000 for its contents. The down payment will come from the permanent improvement fund and the remaining balance of $875,000 will be financed over 10 years.
The loan will be paid with the yearly .5 mill permanent improvement tax designed for such expenses, it said. The building is slated to open at the beginning of the 2010-11 school year.
The board said the consolidation will bring at least 100 employees and community members to the downtown area daily. More importantly, the administration office will provide one-stop services to parents, students and community members.
