An organization that helps place children in good homes has expanded to the Youngstown area.

The Village Network opened the doors to its new Boardman office on Market Street. The new location is the organization's 14th location throughout the state, and offers a treatment foster care program for boys and girls in the tri-county area.

The organization is recruiting foster families and has five families that already have been trained and have placements.

"We really consider our treatment foster parents as true professionals. They get support in respite, and meet every week to deal with the issues that they're facing as foster parents," said Jim Miller, executive director and CEO for The Village Network.

The Village Network currently has about 600 children either in foster care or residential care throughout the state of Ohio.

"We truly believe that kids grow best in families," Miller said.
