The Niles parade has become somewhat of a tradition for people in Trumbull County.

Families lined the streets of downtown Niles Thursday to see their city officials and local schools march in the parade.

All the people we talked with say they're doing more things close to home this holiday weekend, whether it's because of family tradition or the economy.

"We've already been to Georgia and Las Vegas in the past month so it makes sense for us to stay home," Megan Kifer of Mineral Ridge said.

"Usually 20-40 of us get together so we can enjoy each other every summer," Phyllis Wynyard of Niles said.

"Just enjoy staying home and coming to the parade every year. That's just something we do since living here in Niles," Karry Rupert of Niles said.

Even though AAA says the Fourth of July holiday is one of the busiest travel times for families, it's expecting almost a 2-percent drop.
