For the second year in a row, a local hospital took time to honor organ donors and their families.
St. Elizabeth Medical Center and the organ recovery organization LifeBanc today hosted a program, which featured the raising of a special flag outside the hospital's main entrance.
Last year, more than 700 lives were saved at St. Elizabeth's through organ and tissue donations.
One of those who gave the gift of life to others was Randy Davis, of Youngstown, who died in April 2008. Randy's grandmother, Connie Zuccaro, of Boardman, said "its just wonderful to know Randy's heart is beating on."
As part of today's ceremony, a single rose was handed to the families of organ donors.
Organizers say more than 100,000 people are awaiting organ transplants around the country. More than 3,000 of those are in Ohio.
