Some parishioners at St. Dominic's Church feel like not enough is being done to keep them safe while a killer is still out there.

"This poor woman was killed," said parishioner Gayle Hite referring to the murder Saturday of 80-year-old Angeline Fimognari. "Shot in her head like cold murder. Something has to be done."

While parishioners try to keep the faith, they're also looking for answers and wonder about their own safety.

"We need more help to be out there for the people," said Hite. "I mean, if you're afraid to go to church, what else do we have in life but God?"

Hite has attended Saint Dominic's Church for more than 30 years. She served ten years on the parish council. She said police presence needs to be increased on the city's south side and even though there's a fence around the church, it's not enough.

"This area is high crime. You need security, armed security. I stress that not enough."

While no one from St. Dominic's has publicly spoken about Saturday's murder, Youngstown Catholic Diocese Bishop George Murry has issued a written statement on behalf of the area's Catholic community. He said Saint Dominic's is taking steps to insure the parish is safe for those who worship there and parishioners should continue to come to church.

"Everybody has to join together and not be afraid," said longtime parishioner Hite. "If you don't speak out, these criminals are going to take over all of our lives and then what do we have left?"

A $10,000 reward is now being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in Saturday's shooting. Anyone with any information is asked to call Crimestoppers at (330) 746-CLUE.
