Shooting Victim's Identity Released, Condition Improves

Youngstown police are searching for the suspect in the city's latest shooting.

Gunfire broke out just before 1 a.m. Friday in the area of Dogwood Lane inside Rockford Village on the city's East Side. Police said Raymond Hayes, 18, of Youngstown, suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Hayes was taken to Forum Health Northside Medical Center and was later transfered to St. Elizabeth Health Center. He is listed in critical condition.

Police said they recovered three spent shell casings at the scene, which were logged as evidence. Witnesses said they saw a black man running from the scene.
