Kelly Pavlik's evening started as many do lately....a public appearance...signing books at the Mahoning Valley Thunder game. But just prior to that...the middleweight champ spending time dispelling rumors he had checked into an alcohol rehabilitation program.
"When I'm not in training I'll go out every once in a while with my buddies or my wife. Everybody does it, ya know? But for them to say what they were saying, it does bother me because I'm not that person ya know?" says Pavlik.
Ringtalk.com reported Wednesday that Pavlik had indeed checked into rehab and that Pavlik is quote no stranger to alcohol abuse and its related problems.
"They have no credibility. They work for nobody. Whatever they put up on the website, people go with it," says Kelly's father, Mike.
What is true? The Ghost did recently see a Sports Psychologist...and according to the middleweight champ..that has everything to do with swirling rumors like this one.
"I'm in demand a lot. I see things that I really don't want to see, because it hurts so...Alot of things just build up. It's kind of hard to explain to people who don't see the business part of it," says Pavlik.
"You could imagine if someone was doing that to you every time you turned around there was some story out there about you. You know it's very frustrating. And it doesn't do anybody any good...It doesn't do him any good or the people that are doing this," says Mike.
