Time is running out for the Mathews School District to decide the fate of 200 students who attend Neal Middle School in Fowler Township.
The school board is closing the aging building this summer because it's just too costly to repair.
School board members were supposed to make a final decision Wednesday night on where the middle school students will go next year, but the action was tabled.
The board heard from many concerned parents who showed up for the meeting at the high school. They're wondering what will happen to their children next year.
Jim Nicula told the board, "We feel it would be very disruptive to students in the school system because you are basically going in to alter all of the buildings in some way with either students leaving or coming. And it's not going to be the kind of learning mode we want kids to have going into a school year."
A decision on the Neal students should be made at the next Mathews School board meeting, March 17.
