A Salem man has spent 76 years of his life in a wheelchair, and the Guinness Book of World Records has taken notice.
Last November, 84 year old Bill Borrelli broke the record for the most time spent in a wheelchair. He lost the use of his legs after getting hit by a bus at the age of seven in 1932.
Saturday, friends and family gathered to honor Bill with a banquet. His children are the ones who found out about the record and contacted Guinness. "Actually, I'm proud I made it, you know, but I had nothing to do with seeking all that. My kids did that for me, and I appreciate it, and it's been a very interesting life for me," says World Record holder, Borrelli.
Mr. Borrelli says he has kept going all these years with the support of his family, particularly his wife, Betty.
