President Barack Obama's last-ditch push for health care reform takes him to Strongsville today.
He will be visiting cancer patient Natoma Canfield. She had written to the president, saying she gave up her health insurance because she could no longer afford it. Obama has cited that letter to illustrate the need for overhaul.
Ahead of this week's vote, local U.S. Congressman John Boccierri (D-Alliance), said he will vote "no" on H.R. 3962, The Affordable Health Care for America Act. "After nearly 150 roundtables and meetings in my district, it's clear that my constituents agree our nation's health care system is in critical need of reform. While I fully support quality, affordable health care coverage for everyone, I am disappointed the House bill sadly does not go far enough to reduce the costs of getting there."
Public funded abortions could be the killer of the revised bill. Other Democratic representatives who voted yes on the House bill but are potential no votes for the current legislation include U.S. Congessman Charlie Wilson (D) 6th District and U.S. Congessman Tim Ryan (D) 17th District. A house Democratic leader says it still doesn't have the votes that would be needed to pass the bill.
