A clemency board has recommended that Mark Brown be denied clemency. If Gov. Ted Strickland agrees, Brown will be put to death next month for the murders of Hayder Al Turk and Isam Salman back in 1994.

Brown's clemency hearing was held last week.

Brown, who is scheduled to die Feb. 4, admitted to killing Hayder Al Turk, but maintains he did not kill Isam Salman during a robbery at the Midway Market back in 1994.

Brown's current attorneys said not only did his previous attorneys fail him during his trial and appeals, but the state presented unreliable evidence. Attorneys recent said that in 2003, a state witness, Myzell Arrington, sent a letter to Brown admitting he lied when he testified.
