Two Ohio Congressmen continue their effort to return a murder suspect, currently living in Brazil, to the United States.

Congressmen Tim Ryan and John Boccieri have placed an amendment on a foreign relations bill that asks Congress to work with the Brazilian government to extradite Claudia Hoerig to Ohio.  Hoerig fled to her native country more than 2 years ago, after police say she killed her husband, Air Force Major Karl Hoerig, inside their Newton Falls home.

Congressman Boccieri of Ohio's 16th District flew with Major Hoerig in the 910th Airlift Wing and feels passionate about bringing the murder case to a close. " I can tell you that I was glad I knew Karl and America should stand up and be proud.  This resolution by Congressman Ryan and myself, we're gonna stand tall and honor his service to this country and fight for his justice," Boccieri added.

Congressman Ryan, who serves Ohio's 17th district agrees. " This is the weight of the House of Representatives now in a foreign operations bill that speaks to the globe on a variety of different issues now that the Claudia Hoerig case is of national significance and national priority," Ryan said.

The bill passed Wednesday night in the House, and now goes on to the Senate.
