A woman, severely crippled after trying to save her son from a house fire last year, is suing his estate for money to help pay for her care.

Fire investigators say Barbara Morgan was unable to save her paraplegic son, Michael Gene Morgan, from a fire at his Salineville home in May of last year.

Barbara was badly burned in the fire and had to have part of her arm amputated.  She filed a personal injury lawsuit in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court on Friday, to help pay for her medical expenses.

The lawsuit claims her son was negligent for smoking in bed when he couldn't extinguish any fire that might result.

Barbara Morgan is suing for $25,000 in damages.
